When I see a rainbow, I don’t see politics, I don’t see controversy…. I see beauty, promise, and hope. The rainbow has always been more than colors in the sky. In the Bible, it was God’s way of showing love, of reminding us that no matter how stormy the world gets, light will always break through.
So, it’s strange, and honestly heartbreaking to me, when people turn the rainbow into something ugly…. a weapon to judge others.
Honestly, if you’re uncomfortable with someone else’s sexuality to the point you feel threatened, maybe it’s time to ask why. Because let’s be honest….. someone being gay doesn’t hurt you. If you are truly secure in who you are, someone else’s love should never shake your own.
The Bible doesn’t treat rainbows like a curse. Quite the opposite…..
“I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.” Genesis 9:13 (NIV)
“Like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the radiance around him. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord.” Ezekiel 1:28 (NIV)
The rainbow is love itself, painted across the sky. Judging the rainbow and people…..Is the Sin, and for those quick to use scripture as a sword……. remember this! Judging others is not holiness; it’s a sin.
“Do not judge, or you too will be judged.” Matthew 7:1 (NIV)
The moment you turn someone else’s life into your courtroom, you’ve stepped outside of God’s command.
“Love the Stranger”, and if your judgment turns into hatred of immigrants, Hispanics, or anyone not like you, then you’re not only breaking God’s law, you’re ignoring it entirely.
“The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God.” Leviticus 19:34 (NIV)
That’s not politics. That’s not opinion. That’s love, plain and simple.
Let’s Talk About Respect Across All Faiths….
Every faith…. Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, and Hinduism carry the same core truth….. treat others with respect, dignity, and love. When we lose that, we lose the very heart of what makes us human.
That’s why what’s happening in Israel, or anywhere violence is justified against “the other,” is wrong. Murder, oppression, treating people as less than family, none of it can ever be holy.
The truth is, the problem isn’t gay people, immigrants, or people of other faiths. The problem is fear and hate. The problem is when we let insecurity and prejudice harden our hearts. That is what’s holding us back as a civilization.
We need to remember that we’re all someone’s brother, sister, mother, or father. We’re all children of this same earth, standing under the same rainbow sky, and maybe, just maybe, if we could see each other that way, the world would finally begin to heal.
Because at the end of the day, the rainbow isn’t just God’s promise. It’s our reminder……we’re in this together. (Love you all! Terry)
