The world is a wild, confusing place. People chase money, fame, and vanity as if these are trophies they can carry into eternity. But here’s the truth that unites us all, whether we’re rich, poor, powerful, forgotten, loved, or hated...we all die. That’s the one common denominator written into the contract of being human.
On average, we’re each given about 75 summers, 75 birthdays, 75 Christmases. Some of us are blessed with more, some of us less. But no matter the length of the journey, we all arrive at the same destination. You can’t take your wealth with you. You can’t carry your reputation or your followers. Even beauty fades into dust.
The only thing that truly survives you is your legacy, your smiles, the joy you’ve given, the lives you’ve touched. That is the real currency of Heaven.
I say this not as philosophy but from experience. I have died once. Over three minutes on the other side, three minutes that changed everything. It took me years to accept that this was not a curse but a gift. To have seen what comes after, and then be returned, has left me with a clarity that is as heavy as it is profound. Because when you’ve seen the next life, it’s hard to understand why so many people waste this one.
We are surrounded by vanity, selfishness, and hate. We see people like Trump and others who build empires on division, who wrap themselves in false spirituality while practicing the opposite of anything divine. There is nothing sacred in hate. Nothing romantic in cruelty. Nothing eternal in greed. These are empty pursuits, hollow shells that blow away with the wind.
What matters is simple..... fix the world for the person behind you. Leave it better than you found it. Build legacies not of stone or gold, but of compassion and kindness. That is what continues long after your last breath. That is what lives on in those who come after you.
When I look at this world now, I don’t see wealth as success or power as greatness. I see a smile shared, a moment of laughter, a life made a little easier because someone cared enough to help. That is real wealth. That is true power. That is what Heaven counts.
So while we cannot stop death, we can choose life. We can choose how we use the time given. We can choose to create legacies of love, not fear; of hope, not hate.......and when we go, as we all must, the question will not be how much we owned, but how much we gave.
The smiles you create, that’s your currency of Heaven.
